LeWitt Medley 1

The four pieces that make up LeWitt Medley 1 use two new technologies capable of drawing and cutting shapes into corrugated metal. The geometric forms replicate those developed by Sol LeWitt for his Wall Drawings. The graphics of the linear structure of the corrugated metal corresponds to the compositions of certain Wall Drawings. The corrugated metal’s undulations create both limitations and opportunities, imposing complexities and nuances which emerge once the drawings transition into bas-relief. The new contours outlining the geometric forms shift the relationship between the geometric shapes, their backgrounds and components. LeWitt’s drawings are reworked through the interplay of these intersecting lines and the changing light on the surface of the metal pieces.
